Question
When you have stocks in a company through an online trader like scottrade or sharebuilder, when you submit an order to sell a stock, is the stock automatically sold and the money automatically credited to your account?

Answer
Frankie,
Thank you for your question! Yes. When you submit the order, the online trader will execute, and then you will have a cash amount in your trading account. You can either leave it as cash in the trading account, withdraw from the trading account through a transfer or have them send you a check to deposit in your checking account for use, or you can use the cash balance in your trading account to purchase different investments.
I hope this helps! Please do not hesitate to follow up with me if I can be of any additional service,

Sincerely,
Paul Henneman
