Question QUESTION: Hi - I purchased Krispy Kreme Donuts about 7 years ago and I cannot find any paperwork for these stocks. The broker I purchased these shares from sent me the information, since he was no longer handling small accounts. How can I go about finding out my ownership information for these shares? Thank you
ANSWER: You should go back to the broker dealer, and ask for statements to see if the shares are in the account. Or, if not in the account, you should attempt to find the certificates. If you can not do either of these actions, then the best thing to do is ask the broker dealer to contact the transfer agent to secure a "lost certificate form". Once you have this form, then you can start the process to secure the certificates.

QUESTION: I do not remember who the broker was. I am not an avid "buyer of stocks" and this is the only stocks I own. Can I find out the info on my own?
Answer Find a broker dealer in your area, since they have all the free tools to trace this back for you. You should use a local broker dealer to have them secure your certificates again. They do not charge for this service.
On your own? Well, you could look up the company on http://hoovers.com site, and go to their investor relations section on their site, then you would find the transfer agent. This particular company is not good at getting back to people, so I still recommend finding a local broker dealer to discover the stock correct certificates, since with mergers and dividends, this could be a very long time to secure the information on your own.
