Question
What classes should I be taking in High School in order to succeed in this business.

Answer
John,
  Thank you for your question!
Your math classes will certainly be the most important for you to concentrate on for a future as a stock broker. Some high schools have financial clubs, if your does not you may want to consider starting one. Such a club will look great on your college applications, and you will learn alot by sharing ideas with others, tracking portfolios online, and general reading and research. If you can find a teacher that has some knowledge and interest to serve as an advisor, that would be very good.  If not, perhaps there is a local financial professional that you could approach. It would be best to send this request by letter to any financial advisors in your area, as they are busy professionals and may not appreciate a phone call or visit unless they are interested.
Unfortunately high shool education in this country does a terrible job of teaching anything of much value relating to finance. I do strongly recommend that you do some reading outside of school, to begin eductating yourself on investments. You simply will not get much help from your school. "Investing for Dummies" is a great book to start with, it will give you a basic fundamental knowledge of the   major forms of investing (not just stocks), and some routine methods for picking quality stocks to invest in. With this basic knowledge, you could do additional reading on the topics that interest you.

I hope this helps, please do not hesitate to follow up with me if I can be of any additional service,

Sincerely,
Paul Henneman
