Question
QUESTION: I NEED A PAY-OFF LETTER STATING THAT MY CHEVY CUBE VAN WAS PAID OFF FROM GMAC, THE LEINHOLDER. HOW DO I OBTAIN THIS? IT HAS BEEN APPROX. 3 YRS SINCE IT HAS BEEN PAID OFF.

ANSWER: Hi,

It's quite simple. Call GMAC and ask for a letter stating this was paid in full. If you are doing a loan, your loan officer should have given you information on who to contact to correct this issue, as well as done a credit supplement to fix the problem temporary.

Hope this helps.... :)

QUESTION: TY FOR YOUR ANSWER BUT WE ALREADY KNEW THAT PART. WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW IS IF WE NO LONGER HAVE ANY OF THE PAPERS FROM THAT LOAN, HOW CAN WE GET THESE RECORDS AND THEREFORE BE ABLE TO CALL THE RIGHT PEOPLE. TY IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE.

Answer
Hi,

If you have a copy of your credit report, then the number is on there. All of your open and closed accounts are still listed on the Report. With that being said, call the number listed and ask them for a copy of the payoff. If you don't have a copy (although you should, if you know it's still on there) then call GMAC at 1-800-200-4622 and explain what you need. All else to consider, call the 3 credit bureaus and do a dispute.

Thanks,

Bobbi Buehl
