Question
Hi, my daughter has her car financed with Toyota.  She didn't receive a statement this month so she got online to make her payment and was denied access to her account.  So she called them and they said the reason she had been denied access was because she had filed bankruptcy.  She has not filed bankruptcy, has excellent credit, and has never even been late with a payment. They told her they got the information from the Credit Bureau.  She called all 3 credit bureaus this morning and they are not showing her in bankruptcy, all accounts show current and in good standing.  She insisted that Toyota let her make a payment as she did not want them coming back on her later sayinmg she missed a payment.  They told her she didn't have to make a payment because she had filed bankruptcy.  She finally got a person that would let her make the payment, and she did and got a confirmation number for the payment.  How else should she proceed to straighten out this mess?  Thanks so much for your time.

Answer
Hello,

The only logical explanation I can think of for this to happen is; your daughter has a common name and the credit bureaus have her mixed up with someone else.

Have her contact the credit bureaus again and validate her social security number with them. Then, have her ask the credit bureaus for a copy of her credit report. If she has a copy (dated pulled on report) then she can forward it onto Toyota with a letter explaining the shows no bankruptcies in existence.

Hope that helps your daughter solve her delima!

Good luck, and please let me know the outcome of this issue.
