Financing -- Loans - credit dispute issue

Question
good afternoon! i believe that either my mother or father opened an account with an electric company under my name and SSN, 5 years ago when i was 15. it now appears that this is on my credit, was never payed or closed. im having trouble disputing this issue, and am wondering if this is even legal? wouldnt i have had to enter into some form of legal contract to open an account with my SSN? shouldnt that contract be null/void since i was a minor? if you can even point me in any direction, it would be quite helpful and Greatly appreciated. thank you sooo very much. have a wonderful day.

Answer
Hi again Desiree,

In addition to what I said in my prior answer you should write another  letter to the electric company and demand they stop reporting false information to the credit reporting agencies as this is not your account, and you never authorized anyone to open this account for you, and they will be liable to you for defamation action if they do not remove it. Tell them also you
were only been 15 years old when the account was supposedly first opened.

I practice law and am licensed in Ohio and West Virginia.  If this involves another state, I will assist you in your effort to find an attorney in your state who can help you.
