AboutMrs. Priscilla Lyons Expertise I have time for you. The Bible has been my guiding light for
most of the 56 years of my life. My missionary parents in Brazil kindled
a love for God`s Word by their example and their love for truth. The
Lord has blessed my husband and me with responsible, independent
children who love and serve the Lord and are our best friends. I would
enjoy discussing any subject or problem from a Biblical perspective.
Question i had a really good job and fair life to were I was able to see what being adult is and most of all I had allot of purpose.II really think that god had given me that gift.I left my job to say I was going to go back to school to study and have my own business. It has been a year and I am still parting and I am 36.I know I have this powerful god gift but why can I not strive to become new.
Answer Dear Kathy,
Thanks for writing. I believe God allows us to go through times where we lack motivation, to help us look beyond ourselves to our eternal destiny. Where you will spend eternity affects how you feel in this short physical life. If you have entrusted yourself to your Creator, asking Him to forgive your sins He died to pay for, then you know He loves you and wants to help you change to be more like Him. Since He made you, you can trust Him to know how to develop your potential now and forever.
Since you realize God's gift of your abilities, it's time to realize (if you haven't already) that God also has a gift that deals with your sin. Romans 6:23 "The wages of sin (everyone has sinned) is death (separation forever from God, our Source of life), but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We were made to reflect God's image (Genesis 1:26). We were not designed to focus on our own image so when we DO focus on ourselves instead of focusing on God, we've let go of God, our Source of life. Disconnected from our Source of life, we all run down, which is why we eventually all die physically. By entrusting ourselves to God, allowing His death and resurrection to wash away our sins, we can live forever in a perfect body after this temporary life is over.
This new, born-again spiritual life we can receive now, grows daily with spiritual food from God's Word, the Bible. Our Creator lives in us when we have died to our SELF, and He will guide us with His wisdom to make the right choices to continue studies, find another job, venture into your own business, or follow other plans God brings into your life. All is done in order to reflect God's image better so others will find eternal life also.
I pray that you will use this "down" time to "reckon yourself to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:11) Jesus is a wonderful Lord and Master! Read His Word every day!
