Fine Art/Chagall's lithograph

Recently, I saw a framed lithograph, The creation of Man, with pencil signature on the bottom right margin and a certificate attached on the back.  It had 51/250.  I don't know anything about lithograph. (Now I wish I had checked more while I was there.) Can that be real?  Seems like 250 is quite a large number to sign?  Most I see on the web seems to be 50 or 75 for his lithographs.  If I were to look at the certificate, how would I know if it is a valid certificate?

Thank you for your time.

Buying a Chagall must be done in the right way.  I just saved someone from throwing away $2500.00 for a fake Chagall.
250 is common as a size for limited edition, although there are many Chagall editions that are much smaller. If you want to persue this, you will need the right kind of help. A proper report for a Chagall takes about 3 to 4 hours to create and involves research.

I can answer questions about Salvador Dali. While I cannot do FREE APPRAISALS, I might be able to help you sell your works. I can also help with Chagall, Miro, Picasso and other 20th Century Masters.

Questions about a type of art or medium can be answered with one response in most cases. Technical issues are easier to deal with than specifics about an artist. If you need help finding values or history on an artist, it will probably involve research that can sometimes take hours to complete. If you have more than one image to send, I will give you an alternate email address as this system cannot handle multiple images.
