Question
19th century
19th century
I ask this question about a year or so back. (Hello. I recently purchased two oil paintings by an artist named H.S. Leighner. One is a beautiful landscape painting from New Hampshire (seller discribed it as 19th Century Hudson River School) and the other is a flower arrangement from Ohio (seller discribed as Roses Still life Oil signed H.S. Leighner ).  Instantly I became a fan of his or her works. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Terry ) I have researched it and found 5 or 6 auction houses that had this artist paintings on their past docket. Yet I find nothing on this artist name. If I sent a picture of the two would it be of any assistance?
Thank you!
Terry

Answer
I checked and find limited info on the artist. Artists from the Hudson River School are well respected, some like Albert Bierstadt have become quite famous and works sell in the high end categories.
You need to check the Smithsonian and other organizations to find museum exhibits and auction results. This will give you a better idea of values.

Expertise

I can answer questions about Salvador Dali. While I cannot do FREE APPRAISALS, I might be able to help you sell your works. I can also help with Chagall, Miro, Picasso and other 20th Century Masters.

Questions about a type of art or medium can be answered with one response in most cases. Technical issues are easier to deal with than specifics about an artist. If you need help finding values or history on an artist, it will probably involve research that can sometimes take hours to complete. If you have more than one image to send, I will give you an alternate email address as this system cannot handle multiple images.
