Question
I have 3 oil paintings signed 'Jean de Bomainq'. Per www.artotheque.ca/artiste.html, Jean-Claude Mayodon is also known by the name Jean de Bomainq. Is this accurate? If so why are some of JC Mayodon's paintings signed 'Bomainq'?

Answer
Hello Michael,  Are you referring to Canadian artist Jean-Claude Mayodon (1938 - 1981) or French artist Jean Mayodon (1893-1967)?  I do not know the answer to the Jean de Bomainq connection.  What is the provenance of the paintings?  Please attach an image of one of the works  to your response.  Cheers, Brent
