Knowing well works by the painter Peter Hayward, what might well be considered pixels in an oil inpasto painting is the canvass testure, often Peter would remove or lightly paint an area to reveal a lighter tone for effect, many of his works show this, piticurly with a thin pallete tecnique, quite common and often misunderstood.
