Question
I HAVE A WHAT I THINK IS A LITHOGRAPH OF A OLD FARM HOUSE ON A SNOWY WINTER DAY CAN YOU TELL ME ANY THING ABOUT THIS ARTIST?          ARLETTE

Answer
Arlette,
Jacques Deperthes is a listed French artist, evidently from a line of artists, born in 1936, who is known for his realist depictions of rural France, Germany and Poland.  Many barns and farm houses.  High contrast, sharp lines. I see that his pictures trade anywhere from $100 for a simple line pen&ink drawing or lithograph into a few thousand dollars for a larger oil painting.

I don't follow modern painters, nor European artists, but I have now learned a little today.  Thanks for introducing him to me.  I like his works.

Enjoy your artwork every day!

Hudson River School, Pennsylvania Academy, Cape Ann artists, Ash Can, Woodstock, Florida Indian River, American Impressionists, etc. I can provide some background about artists and perhaps a rough appraisal or guidance towards obtaining a value. I am acquainted with many of the best American art dealers and auction houses. Original works only, I do not follow the print market. I do NOT field questions about prints.

Important to know
I am not expert in European art. I encourage you to send questions on European artists to other experts on this service. NO PRINTS:I encourage you to seek help on prints elsewhere. Two sites come to mind: www.artoftheprint.com and www.philaprintshop.com
