Question
I purchased a oil painting on canvas signed by Holler.  It is a snow setting with old shaped barns. A lady walking down road to a door I believe.  How can I find out is this was painted by the artist, C. Holler?  Please advise.  thank you

Answer
Hi Grace,

You have a couple options. You can find a fine art appraiser or you can take it to an auction house. This list of fine art appraisers http://www.ifaacertified.com/locate.html shows where each appraiser is and their expertise.

As far as auction houses, which are not as fun to deal with, I recommend http://www.bonhams.com/us/ or Sothebys http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r?sContinent=USA&scre .

Best of luck to you, Grace!

Sincerely,
