Fine Art/Miro limited edition lithograph - Melodie Acide

Question
Hello,
I recently acquired an "original limited edition lithograph" by Miro from his La Melodie Acide series of prints (I understand that 1500 of these were printed in Barcelona in 1980). It is plate signed. As I am a novice collector, I am uncertain whether there have been any fakes of this particular series in the market. I only paid approx. USD 700 and assume that I may have paid too much for it, but am curious to know if you are aware of any issues with this particular series or if there are any tell tale signs for spotting fake Miro lithographs.

Answer
The Miro works I have sold were all hand signed and high end.  I have not sold any plate signed works. It has been my experience that plate signed works are leaning more towards decorative art and not investment art. Unless you have a unique situation, I suspect the same with your print.
I have never seen the actual piece you have and would have to examine it in person to be sure, but at least you have a general idea.

Expertise

I can answer questions about Salvador Dali. While I cannot do FREE APPRAISALS, I might be able to help you sell your works. I can also help with Chagall, Miro, Picasso and other 20th Century Masters.

Questions about a type of art or medium can be answered with one response in most cases. Technical issues are easier to deal with than specifics about an artist. If you need help finding values or history on an artist, it will probably involve research that can sometimes take hours to complete. If you have more than one image to send, I will give you an alternate email address as this system cannot handle multiple images.
