Fine Art/Framing

Dear Sir,
If the artist took the time, expense and effort to professionally frame a particular piece. Would the type of framing assist in trying to determine its worth or value? For example, I have a Picasso print that may be a poster and of little value. However, the artist/owner took the time and expense of having the piece gallery framed. It seems a shame to open the framing to check. Any thoughts?

You can have a framer do it to insure there is no damage to the art.

For a professional to examine the piece, they have to see it un-framed.

If it turns out to be of no value, then your out the expense of taking apart the frame and then putting it back together again, shouldn't be that expensive?

If on the other hand, you have an authentic Picasso with his hand signature, then you won't care about the framing issues.

I can answer questions about Salvador Dali. While I cannot do FREE APPRAISALS, I might be able to help you sell your works. I can also help with Chagall, Miro, Picasso and other 20th Century Masters.

Questions about a type of art or medium can be answered with one response in most cases. Technical issues are easier to deal with than specifics about an artist. If you need help finding values or history on an artist, it will probably involve research that can sometimes take hours to complete. If you have more than one image to send, I will give you an alternate email address as this system cannot handle multiple images.
