Question
Stuart,
Good evening from Arizona. My question relates to Swedish-born artist Carl/ Earl B. Nyquist, 1888-1959. We recently aquired an Oil on Board signed painting by Mr. Nyquist and beyond some information gathered via Ask Art Website we remain clueless with regard to this 22" x 28" fall landscape with colors so real you can almost hear the leaves Rustle beneath your feet,
Listed artist we know and mentioned by Peter Falk....
Delighted to hear from you with perhaps an estimate of value.
         Very best regards, Johnathon

Answer
Johnathon,
I am unfamiliar with Nyquist, but I also see him listed on AskArt.  Not much information there, you are right.  I carry with me a dog-eared copy of Davenports Art Reference from the 1990s. "Earl B. Nyquist, Washington DC Painter, Decorator, Graphics" listed there, and a range of $400-$800.   Yours is a big picture, if in good shape it would be well worth taking some photos of it, and contacting local dealers.  Scottsdale, Sedona-area...both replete with many dealers.

This auction house had a Nyquist watercolor, lot #87 listed in a 2008 sale.  You might try them?
