Fine Art/mother and child drawing

i have a beautiful drawing  of a mother  and baby the tag on the back said  mother/child on it  and the artist signed  spencer.  i have found  a similar one  under irene spencer, however mine is more  charcoal it appears.   i would love to know more about the drawing  the woman and child in the drawing  and the artist.  any help is appreciated.   have a beautiful day

Hi Christina, there is a Stanley Spencer (1891 - 1959) who made some mother and child sketches in pencil, which are abstract to say the least . There is Eric Spencer Macky (1880 - 1958) who has made several mother and child graphite sketches pictured here . I will continue to look for other Spencer mother and child works, and will get back to you if I find something that might help you.

For a more concrete answer, I recommend contacting Christies or Sothebys auction houses. You can also take it to a Bonham's Valuation Day if there is one near where you live .

Best of luck to you, Christina, and have a wonderful day!
