Dear Qeturah,

After looking at the signature for quite some time under different lighting conditions and magnified, we believe the faint signature is "G. LePrince".   On the back of the painting there is quoted text "Christmas Eve" which must be the name of the painting.  I see there is a Gustave LePrince 1810-1837.  I wonder if this could be the artist.  I can see only one painting online of his.
