Fine Art/Picasso Lithograph

I have recently purchased a lithograph titled Pierrot signed in the upper left Picasso it is framed and the size of the lithograph is 24.5" by 19" the frame size is 32" by 28" and on the back of the frame is a pencil signature Picasso as well as the upper left on the front. The lithograph is created on a brown paper

It also appears to have been framed in the late 1940's or early 1950's I will send photos of the art if needed, my question is were fake lithographs of Picasso's works made during the 1940's and could mine be a fake?  I have also wondered why anyone would make a fake lithograph and/or a print in the 1950's when Picasso was still alive.

It is common for prints, posters and the like to be created during an artists life if that artist is in demand. Picasso works have been copied in a varity of mediums and there are millions of museum store prints and reproductions out there, many are sold on auction websites for low prices. Authentic hand signed works by Picasso do sell for good amounts of money, but they have to pass inspection with the correct experts.

I can answer questions about Salvador Dali. While I cannot do FREE APPRAISALS, I might be able to help you sell your works. I can also help with Chagall, Miro, Picasso and other 20th Century Masters.

Questions about a type of art or medium can be answered with one response in most cases. Technical issues are easier to deal with than specifics about an artist. If you need help finding values or history on an artist, it will probably involve research that can sometimes take hours to complete. If you have more than one image to send, I will give you an alternate email address as this system cannot handle multiple images.
