Question
I acquired a painting by A.M. Gorter back in 1981. I have never been able to fine a copy of this exact painting.Nor have I been able to find anyone who would know anything about this painting or its worth. I live in a suburb of Minneapolis. Is there someone you know in the Midwest that could help me identify this painting and its worth? Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Karen Amell

Answer
Hello Karen,

I believe that A.M. is short for Arnold Marc Gorter, a Dutch landscape artist.  Unfortunately, I am not personally very familiar with this artist or his work.  Below please find a brief Wikipedia write-up on him:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arnold_Marc_Gorter

I have searched through a few art databases, and his paintings appear to go for around $1,500 to $3,500 at auction.

I hope that this information can be of some assistance.

Warm Regards,
