Fine Art/Catalda Fine Arts
i recently recieved several older/antique paintings, a total of 6 or 7 of them would love it if you could help me with all of them but i will start with the one that has a sticker on the back that is stamped with info on the painting its self. The stamp is from Catald fine arts inc. in new york, New York, the title of the painting is 8589 "vase of flowers" the artist is listed as koskoshka(not sure if spelling is correct intailed OK). the frame # is MA722 and no order # was stamped in, was left blank. how old is this particular painting, how original or authentic is it, and was is the estimated value on it? any and all your help would be greatly appreciated, thank you Mr. Evans.
Catalda Fine Arts produced reproductions of famous paintings or paintings by famous artists during the mid-twentieth century. Unfortunately, the work that you have by Catalda is likely a reproduction with only decorative value (no real collectible value). Catalda Fine Arts has a somewhat marred reputation, as they were involved in litigation for many years regarding copyright violations to the images that they produced.
The values can vary on these Catalda works based on factors such as the desirability of the image, the artist, size, condition, and framing. Even for a reproduction, if it is a nice, well-framed work, a few hundred dollars might be a reasonable price.
I hope that this information can be of some assistance.
