Fine Art/painting history

we just bought a painting with a signature of lee reynolds.upon checking we found out it was painted at vanguard studios. the number on the back of this sailboat painting is # 153726MA. could you give us some history of this painting. also about what its value price is--thanks   patty

Dear Patty,

As fellow All Expert Dolly Headley stated,"Vanguard Studios was founded by an artist named Lee Reynolds Burr and represents a business venture that was formed in the sixties to create affordable oil paintings for the masses.

Vanguard apprentice artists were usually trained at America's finest art schools but signed the work they produced as Lee Reynolds. Lee Reynolds Burr permitted the signature "Lee Reynolds" to be affixed to the best of the works conceived and executed at Vanguard Studios. At the same time, the signature was accompanied by a Vanguard Studios stamp on the back."

The value on this work is decorative and depends on the quality of technique and the desirability of the subject matter which is all subject to the buyer so the price is difficult to discern but upon doing some further research it ranges from $100 to $1000. Hopefully that helps.
