Question
I have a Peter Hayward painting "Brookside Mill".  it is signed.  What is the value of this painting?

Answer
Dear Martha,

I am not familiar with Peter Hayward's work but in doing research, his orginal paintings can sell from $500 to $4000 approximately depending on size, condition, and subject. However in trying to do research, I found that multiple people own the same work, so that is cause for concern as that makes me believe it is a reproduction of some sort which still does have value being hand-signed. For an accurate value you will need to get the work appraised or looked at by a dealer who handles his art. I would try contacting this gallery who sells his work for an accurate opinion:  http://www.cedarstreetgalleries.com/bin/works.cgi?Artist=Hayward1905-1993Peter . Best of luck. Andrew Evans
