Fine Art/H. Zabateri aka. Hans Zatzka
I have an art piece that I have often wondered about signed H. Zabateri. It appears to be a watercolor or pastel, the size is approximately 26" x 51" wide. It has what appears to be the original frame with the original handblown glass. The subject is that of faeries or maidens frolicking in water surrounded by woods. This was purchased for me in about 1970 by an Antique Dealer who had purchased and imported several crates of European antiques and collectibles. It is in excellent condition. I was wondering what else you might be able to tell me about this piece.
As I have looked on line I have not seen anything like this nor have I seen anything that would give me an idea of value. Your expertise will be most appreciated.
If you would like to send jpeg images to me please keep each image of a reasonable size (not too large), and send them as “attachments”, do not imbed them in your email. If you are looking for identification or opinion regarding your painting best would be an image of the front (just the painting, don’t include your lovely living room or pick-up truck), the back, and close-ups of the signature, details of the brush-work, and any inscriptions or labels (use the macro setting on your camera for these close-ups). You can send this information to my email at firstname.lastname@example.org and make your subject line “allexperts” so I do not bounce you as spam. It would be nice to receive feedback as I do this on my own time with no remuneration, free, no charge, nada. I do not research prints or artwork post-1940.
