Question
We just found an oil painting approximately 24" x 2' on canvas, dated Aout 1923.  Probably brought back while dad was in army over in Europe 1955. What would a painting like this be worth approximately? Where could this be brought to be inspected?  Thank you!

Answer
Dear Becky, Utrillo was the most copied, reproduced and faked artist of the 20th century. Chances that you have an authentic painting are slim to none. You can find the Utrillo catalogue raisonne by Paul Petrides at most major art museum and university libraries. It contains photographs and descriptions of all the known paintings by Utrillo. To buy these volumes is about $3,500.
Cordially,
