Subject: Picasso & Chagall lithographs - Gallery Hours?

Question
Dear Dan,

I purchased a few(Picasso and Chagall) lithographs from a recent auction, and I am seriously doubting their authenticity. They are certificated by Nathan Isen, but there is no detail regarding his contact info., such as address or telephone number. Worse yet, I found several other art pieces listed on eBay with NATHAN D. ISEN certificates ... but the signatures are TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Same person, completely different signatures. How can that be? Is there any way to verify what the REAL Nathan Isen signature looks like. I'm afraid I've been cheated, but I wanted to confirm and get your opinion. I hope there's not some major scam going on using Nathan Isen's name. I've read some of the past questions, and noticed a few other inquiries about doubtful Isen COAs. I know you normally ask for photos of art pieces, but I think it might be even better if you could see these in person. I noticed you are currently with the Salvador Dali Society in Los Angeles. I don't live in the area but may be visiting friends there sometime in the next month or so. Would you mind taking a look at the pieces in person? If so, I could bring them when I head up to LA. Thank you.

Answer
It would be better for you to have them authenticated. We are a fine art broker and do not do "in house" authenticity. I can refer you to someone that can do an appraisal, they have their own fees etc. While many will try to charge you money to authenticate, there are very few who are qualified to create certificates for a Picasso. If you want the referral, email me at dantwyman@dalinet.com so I can reply to an email rather than this public forum.

Dan
