Question
QUESTION: My husband and I discovered three Picasso prints for sale.  They are framed
and they say 25/500, 13/500, 123/500.  One of them is Women in Red Chair.
How much would these be worth?  We know nothing about paintings, yet we
feel these might be worth something.  Thank you so much for any
information you may give me.

ANSWER: You mentioned that you "discovered them"?  Are the works in a gallery, online, a private party?

If they are numbered then most likely they are etchings or lithographs. Look for a Pencil signature.  Important note: There is a company online selling unauthorized replicas and saying they are the real thing.

I need more details to help you.

QUESTION: Hi Dan~  Thank you so much for responding.  It's wonderful to have access to your expertise.  The paintings are in a vintage resell store in Palm Springs.  The paintings are Nude in a Red Chair, Seated Woman & Child with Two Women.  It states:  Collection Domaine Picasso..Gidee Lith (? or Giclee) (It says certificate on back)  15/500, 23/500, 19/500.   Jan

Answer
A Giclee is a modern day digital scan printed on canvas or paper.  Picasso had nothing to do with Giclee's because the process had not been invented yet.

Do not buy them unless they are very affordable and you only want them for decorations.  No investment value.

Probably unauthorized as well.

Expertise

I can answer questions about Salvador Dali. While I cannot do FREE APPRAISALS, I might be able to help you sell your works. I can also help with Chagall, Miro, Picasso and other 20th Century Masters.

Questions about a type of art or medium can be answered with one response in most cases. Technical issues are easier to deal with than specifics about an artist. If you need help finding values or history on an artist, it will probably involve research that can sometimes take hours to complete. If you have more than one image to send, I will give you an alternate email address as this system cannot handle multiple images.
