Fine Art/Utrillo Paintings

Hi, We have 2 paintings from Maurice Utrillo and was wondering how we can authenticate if they are fakes or the real thing, if they are on canvas does that help the authenticity? Thank you!

Dear Jamie, Chances are slim to none that you have authentic Utrillo paintings. He was the most copied, reproduced, and faked artist of the 20th century. You can find one at any Goodwill or Salvation Army store. If you want to pursue your research you need to peruse the Utrillo Catalogue Raisonne by Paul Petrides (several volumes of all the known works by the artist) found at most major art museum and university libraries. To purchase it is over $3,500. If you do not have an impressive provenance (history of ownership) on your paintings you will not get a response from any experts.
