Question
Hi Daniel !
I have two oil paintings on hardboard (presume oil paintings) they came from A house heated with wood. Paintings date around 1890's.How would I clean& preserve them ?  Thanks Bruce

Answer
Dear Bruce, You could cause irreversible damage. Contact a local art dealer or art museum to locate a painting conservator. A conservator will tell you exactly what should be done to the paintings and an estimate of the cost. They do not charge for this information.
Cordially,
Dan
