Eric,

Have you received follow-up as to the authenticity of your Picasso lithograph? I'm curious because I experienced a similar situation with a Picasso as well as other pieces purchased from an auction, also authenticated by NATHAN ISEN and which all were determined to be FAKE. At the very worst, pieces were simply pages ripped out of books. If your piece is authentic, that is terrific, but if not, don't feel bad about being scammed. There has been widespread FRAUD among traveling auctioneers selling art, jewelry, and rugs particularly in the states of California, Florida, Georgia, Oregon, Illinois, Texas, and Hawaii. In CA, a civil suit has been filed by the Los Angeles City Attorney on behalf of the People of the State of CA vs. specific auction companies who have been found charged with a scheme to sell fake, forged, inauthentic, and grossly overpriced works of art and reproductions thereof. The suit further alleges that the Defendants employed false advertising, conducted illegal auctions, issued false Certificates of Authenticity, charged and retained unlawful and fraudulent fees, and used deceptive lulling tactics. The complaint seeks an injunction to halt the Defendants' unlawful business practices, restitution for the victims, and civil penalties of up to $2,500 for each violation.

I'd like to hear from both of you. I have a lot of information about the art involved and the authentication process. The chief problem is that people often don't understand what they are looking at.

Expertise

I can answer questions about Salvador Dali. While I cannot do FREE APPRAISALS, I might be able to help you sell your works. I can also help with Chagall, Miro, Picasso and other 20th Century Masters.

Questions about a type of art or medium can be answered with one response in most cases. Technical issues are easier to deal with than specifics about an artist. If you need help finding values or history on an artist, it will probably involve research that can sometimes take hours to complete. If you have more than one image to send, I will give you an alternate email address as this system cannot handle multiple images.
