Fine Art/packing up Mom's house

Question
QUESTION: Hi Dan, My name is Ann Marie I was recently packing up my Mom's house as she is downsizing due to illness and came across a suprise. I found nine plates? They look like small paintings, but on the back they are numbered as plates. My Mother bought them at a garage sale about 8 years ago. They say they are by
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. There are nine in all. They are about 11 in by 8in I would guess. There are a few Moulin Rouge ones and one of his Mother.
She bought them in Clearwater, Florida but the label on the back says New Jersey Art Museum or something like that. We were really just wondering where we take them to find out if there originals or not. They don't have the red singnature circle he has put on other work but a regular signature.

Thank you so much for your time,
Ann Marie

ANSWER: Are we talking about printing plates or ceramic plates?

Printing plates have turned up  from time to time. As for ceramic plates by Lautrec, I have no info on that?

I checked a dealer that specailizes in that type of thing and they have no inventory to compare to what you have.

We might need to find a Lautrec expert and have them examined in person.

QUESTION: Dan, I spoke Via e-mail with someone at UF and she said they are probably smaller reproductions of larger oil paintings. These have his signature in different locations and as far as plates they are numbered from the New Jersey State Museum. The Portrait of the artists Mother 1887-plate #2,  At the cirque Fernando, The Equestrienne 1888-plate#3,  At the Moulin Rouge-The dance 1890 unknown plate #,  M.Boileau at the cafe' 1893-plate #9,  Salon at the Rue Des Moulins 1894-plate#10,  Maxime De Thomas at the opera ball 1896-plate#12,  Private room at the "Rat Mort" 1899-plate#14,  The Modiste -1900 plate#15. These are not ceramics. They are framed, we are not sure if they are paintings or lithographs. They are very old and fragile.
If these are smaller reproductions of the originals are they worth anything?
Thanks,
Ann Marie

Answer
There are categories that have an impact on value.
Example:
*Antique Prints
*Hand Signed reproductions done with the artists permission or by the artist.
*Limited Edition vs Open edition.
These are just a few examples but think about the categories your works fall into and then we get an idea of value.

Can you email them to me again?  I looked in my inbox and don't see them?

Expertise

I can answer questions about Salvador Dali. While I cannot do FREE APPRAISALS, I might be able to help you sell your works. I can also help with Chagall, Miro, Picasso and other 20th Century Masters.

Questions about a type of art or medium can be answered with one response in most cases. Technical issues are easier to deal with than specifics about an artist. If you need help finding values or history on an artist, it will probably involve research that can sometimes take hours to complete. If you have more than one image to send, I will give you an alternate email address as this system cannot handle multiple images.
