Question
I want to travel by bicycle from Tampere to Helsinki.  I want to overnight in Hämeenlinna (or some place close to it) How hilly will this ride be?  Are there any youth hostals in Hämeenlinna or close by?

Thanks in advance

Phil

Answer
Dear Phil,

I am sorry for the delay of this answer. I got four All Experts questions yesterday.

There are some hills on the route Tampere - Helsinki but not too many and not too big. Remember that it is forbidden to bike on freeways.

There are hostels in Tampere:

-Hostel Sofia: http://www.hostelsofia.fi or http://kiviranta.eu/hostelsofia/en_index.php

-Summer Hotel Härmälä: http://www.lomaliitto.fi/index.asp?resid=13

Unfortunately, I think that there isn't any youth hostel in Hämeenlinna region. However, you find other cheap and very nice (nicer than hostels, I think) accommodation possibilities in Hämeenlinna:

-Aulanko Holiday Centre: http://www.aulangonlomakyla.fi

-Apartment Hotel: http://www.huoneistohotelli.fi

-Myllytalo: http://www.myllytalo.fi

Welcome to Finland!

Jim
