Subject: Relatives in Finland

Question
I am also third generation Finn in the USA.  Our name is not known well in the US...but a Google search states loads In Finland.  The name is Arpiainen.  Any stats or ideas where I may contact possible relatives there?  Unfortunetly, my Finnish is not so good.  Thanks!

Answer
Hi!
Just tried your name in the official stats website and got the answer that there are several hundreds of Arpiainen in Finland. If you know more about where you come from, the place your relatives left from you might be lucky in tracing family here in Finland.
Here's a couple of links you can try in your quest:
http://www.vaestorekisterikeskus.fi/vrk/home.nsf/pages/index_eng
http://www.maistraatti.fi/en/index.html
as the phone book is no use in this case.
Hope you get lucky and find your relatives.
Wishing you a nice day,
Mona
