Question
Hi Jim,

In May-June I would like to go to Kuopio. I'll book a flight from London to
Tampere but the main problem is that the plane will land at 22.30. I searched
a train to Kuopo around 23.00 but apparently there are none. Do you know
what would be the best choice from Tampere airport straight to Kuopo? It's
my major problem. And also, do you think I should book a hostel (THE
CHEAPEST) online or do I have a chance to find a place when I get there?

Thank you very much,

Suzana

Answer
Dear Suzana,

Unfortunately it is quite diccicult to travel from Tampere to Kuopio. I recommend staying overnight in Tampere.

In the morning you could take a train (departure at 7.07 am, you must change trains in Riihimäki, Lahti and Kouvola, arrival at 12.43) or a bus (departure at 8.05 am, you must change buses in Jyväskylä, arrival at 1.00 pm). These timetables may change before the summer. So please remember to check them here:

You find more details about hostels at http://www.srmnet.org . May and early June are a low season in Finnish travel. So it is possible that you get an accommodation without booking it in advance. However, it is better to book a hostel in advance because some hostels may still be closed in May.

Feel free to contact me if you have more questions.

Have a nice weekend!

Jim
