Question QUESTION: Hi Jim - remember me! We will be enjoying our third trip to Helsinki in August and would like to know if there are any camping sites near the city centre where we can pitch a tent? We have accommodation booked but would also like to camp for a few days. many thanks
ANSWER: Hi Denise,
Greetings from sunny Finland. I am very sorry for the delay of this answer. I was abroad and my mobile Internet connection didn't work as I supposed.
Yes, I remember you and your trip in January (almost without snow, empty Seurasaari, taking photos in Lauttasaari etc.).
Feel free to contact me if you have more questions or if you want to get more detailed information. I will be off line for some days in the next week but after that I will check my e-mail daily.
Sunny regards,
Jim

QUESTION: Hi Jim - thanks for your very helpful answer we have sorted something out.
Can you walk from the Sibelius monument to Seruasarri and how long would it take? I can remember seeing lots of paths from the bus. Can you recommend any other walks in and around Helsinki?
I see the weather is hot and sunny I do hope it lasts until next week. Do you have a forecast for the first week of August?
best regards
Denise
Answer Hi again Denise,
Yes, it is possible to walk from the Sibelius monument to Seurasaari. The distance is a bit over 3 kilometers (about 2 miles).
My favourite walking routes are in the Nuuksio National Park http://www.outdoors.fi/nuuksionp . There are many very beautiful paths (2-7 kilometers or even longer). The Nuuksio National Park is situated in the city of Espoo, just north of Helsinki. It is also possible to travel by a public bus almost to the national park (walking from the bus stop may be 2 kilometers). However, I recommend renting a car or taking a taxi or taking part in a guided excursion.
