Answer
HI Josh,
Not knowing what your grades have been in the past I'm not exactly sure where to guide you.  Let me start out with this, if I recall your fairly young and you want your career to be guided towards public safety, is that correct?  If so, you really need to get your red cross CPR or American heart association CPR behind you.  The next thing I would do is take the advanced first aid course from the Red Cross.  These are two classes that a young person can take in the early evening.  Probably more importantly you may want to visit with your college counselor.  These folks can guide you through your career in public safety if that's where you wanna go.  Make sure you finish high school, and when you do get into college try to get the very best grade you can in all your classes.  Check with the fire station did ask what trainings coming up, and ask if you can sit in on it.  Then may or may not allow you to sit in on a class that you really like.  Not only that it gives a chance for you to meet the firefighters.
Try some of those things and see how a like it.  But remember, your high school is priority number one in this whole wide world.
Good luck dude,
Mike
