I AM 36 YEARS OLD AND I WANT TO BECOME A FIREFIGHTER I HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA,COULD I STILL GET HIRED.I ALSO WANT TO KNOW ARE THERE ANY ACADEMYS AROUND KANSAS CITY KANSAS THAT I COULD GO TO.

Yes there are academies in your area. KU has a great program that would fit you like a glove. Go over to KU and find the fire science department and just walk in. better yet, find a friend of mine there by the name of Todd Miles. Tell Todd you have spoken with me and ask him where you should focus your energy. You will like him and he is a great asset. Tell him you want to get started exactly the same way he did.
