First Aid - gun shot wound too right side of chest

Expert: Roger Eib - 10/15/2009

Question
what is the possibility of surviving a gun shot too the right shest peck?

Answer
George,

I'm sorry that it took me so long to answer your question. I was on vacation and marked myself as so, but it sent your question anyway.

Well to answer your question. It would depend on what exactly was damaged by the bullet. It it just went through the muscle and did not hit the right lung or any major blood vessels, then it would be very possible to survive. If it hit the lung and/or major vessels, then it would depend on how much blood loss there was. I hope that this has answered your question. and again I'm very sorry for the delay
