store employee and manager in the family pet store
business. The main part of our business was
Freshwater Fish. I can answer questions on; Fish care, diseases,
parasites and fish identification, feeding your
fish, breeding and sexing your fish, setting up
your aquarium, cleaning your aquarium, and
"what`s this weird stuff in my tank/on my

I worked in and managed my family's fish and pet and fish store for 26 years and maintained the 35 aquariums. My experience also has included occasional in-home consultation and aquarium maintenance for my clients.

Subject: Bala Shark
Question
I've had my Bala Shark for only about two weeks and he's starting to seem different. First off, his dorsal fin isn't entirely clear anymore (besides the black stripe at the end.) It has actually turned brownish and so have some of his other ones. What's causing this and how can I fix it? Also, he is always swimming at either a 45-90 degree angle now. Is he sick? Thanks for your time!

Hi Bill;
It could be fin rot, water conditions/chemistry are off, or his fins are being nipped by other fish. Without knowing anything about your tank and the other fish it's hard for me to say. If you could give me more information I might be able to help you better.
