Subject: My Fish Keep On Dying...

Question
I have a freshwater tropical tank. My fish keep on dying. Especially if i get some new ones. Recently i have bought some Zebra Long-fins fish, they just die one after another but I'm not sure why... I also have some tetras and one bottom feeder in my tank. They never seem to die just my new ones and the prettier ones. It's getting very frustrating now.
Is it the fish that are unwell?
Am I killing them?

Answer
Hi Poppy;

I need more information before I can help;

How many fish do you have right now?
How big are they? (in inches or cm)
What size tank is it?
How long has the tank been set up?
Does it have a heater?
What's the water temperature?
What kind of filter system?
How often do you clean the tank?
How often is the gravel vacuumed or cleaned?
How much water is replaced when you clean the tank?
When buying new fish, how long are they in the transport bag before you get them home?
When you add the new fish to the tank, how long do you acclimate them?
Do you usually add the transport bag water to the tank when you release the new fish into your tank?
How long after you add them to your tank do they usually die?
Any particular symptoms? Do they just die? Do the new ones ever eat?

Let me know as soon as you can, along with any other information that you think might help...

At Your Service;
Chris Robbins
