Question I just got three fancy goldfish, and one of them isn't using one of its fins. The fin in question has white cottony spots, these are on his tail too. Is this a fungus? Should I quarantine him? What do I use to treat him? If you need it? I can send you a digital picture of the fish if that would help.
Answer Leah, No don't quarantine him it is contagious. Treat your tank for fungus. Go get erythromycin. Take your carbon out for 5 to 7 days. Then a 25 % water change and new carbon. Are you feeding your goldies orange slices and peas. It is like cranberry juice to us... a natural antibiotic. The orange is because goldies have a natural vit C deficiency. Go to your pet shop and get a veggie clip. Cut a slice and put the rind in the clip let them be able to get to the meat. They will love you for it .......Tina
