Question -
I have two angels fish since a while now (4 months or so) and since a few days, one of them been wounded, the top lip was missing, now the lower lip as well, it's hiding a lot more than it used to, and doesn't eat much. I never had any problem like that before, is there a way to help it, or is it doomed? I can't tell exactly which fish is fighting it though.
thanks for your help, hope you can answer soon
Gen
Answer Hi Gen;
The angels may be fighting with each other and the injured one now has mouthrot from the injuries. It's a bacterial infection. He should be isolated for treatment, otherwise you will have to treat the whole tank and it could be expensive as well as making a mess out of the tank water. If he is being nipped at by any of the others he should be moved anyway. Get an antibiotic medication for fish from your fish store that treats mouthrot. Aquarium salt and Melafix helps too. They inhibit infectious bacterial growth and melafix helps heal once the infection is gone.
