Question Hi Lynda,
I just had the worse nightmare, well not the worse, she's ok...I just did the whole 100% water change yesterday, washing everything in warm water really well and getting rid of all scum and everything, clean new water, all heated to the right temp. and treated like you said...All was well...tonight I was on my way out the door and saying bye to her, when her ammonia meter that is attached to the inside of her tank was GREEN!!! That has NEVEr happened before, I've only always seen those yellow! It must've just happened(I pray!) But I immediately took her out, emptied and cleaned the tank again...tested the tap water, it turned greenish!!!!! I could not believe it!! I ran down the street and filled all her bottles with R/O water, tested IT...it was fine...
Now she is in pure water...I'm just FREAKING that the meter turned green, and so suddenly...what do you think abut this, I really value your advice. Thanks!
Answer Hi Liane,
As I mentioned to you in a previous letter, I would not drink the water from your tap. The pipes in your building should be checked. Keep her in bottled water, you have no choice right now. You will have to heat the new water slowly again, and if you can, next time you do a water change, heat the water to the right temperature, before changing her water again. This is a terrible thing to happen, it could have killed your little pet. Try to find out more from your pet store, and water company.
