Fish - betta fish sick

Question Hi, our betta fish has been bloated for about 2 months now. He got worse last month where his eating slowed and stopped all together about 3 weeks ago. We researched on line and believe he might have blader disease as he floates at the top of the tank and have a very full buble like front under side. We changed to just betta water and added Coppersafe as well as have been trying Kanaplex but there is no change. We don't know if we are torchering and prolonging a death that will eventually come from starvation. He lucked out I think three days ago and got a pellet in his mouth but will not even attempt to eat flakes. He can't get the bloodworms in his mouth. His mouth has taken on a bird-beak like shape and turned upward horizontal with the water top of his bowl. I don't think it was that way before. I think we read somewhere that you can add something to the wather and they will go to sleep. Do you think a fish can recover from this point? We tried peas but they sink and he can't swim down he also had trouble turning because he seems to float more to one side then the other. Bobby, our fish has been with us for two years and I don't want to give up on him but I don't want to make him suffer. If only he could talk, can you give us any ideas?
Answer a male betta's average life span is 3 years..you've had him for 2years and bearing in mind there usually 6 months before they are sold in petstores..so what ever he has got, he will find it very difficult to recover from, due to his old age, i think the kindest thing you can do is lay him to rest..there are many humane ways to kill a fish..what you choose is your choise..im not going to recommend a way of killing him as people have different opinions on whats humane and whats not..but if you search it in www.google.co.uk and type in humane ways to kill a fish..im sure there are many ways..and well done for keeping him this long, he obv. had a very loving home
