Question Hi Lynda,
Can you tell me which brand and wattage heaters you use for your unfiltered 5 gallon tanks? I keep buying the wrong ones. First I bought a hydor mini, which uses no settings, just heats it up to 4 degrees above the ambient temp! That one was a mistake...Then, I JUST bought a Hydor Theo, which is supposed to keep it at the exact setting you set it to...well, my temp dropped 2 degrees in 2 days! So, the directions say to put it in a well circulated area, so it can heat evenly, but since I am unfiltered...it sucks. I need one that will work in my circumstance. Thanks! And then hopefully I can find it at the pet store, I only have a Petco or a Petsmart or walmart to go buy them at around here. Thanks!
Answer Hi Liane,
I use Aqua Clear submersible heaters in all my tanks, and have had no problem with them. You can set them which I like very much. They may be a little more expensive, but they are worth it. I'm not sure if they have 25 watts, but they do have 50 watts which is good for 5-10 gallon tanks. If your pet store does not have them, they might be able to order one for you.
I hope this will help.
