I have bred bettas too...well I am a fish nut! I can help you with most diseases, and have experience in setting up a tank. I can tell you tricks on keeping your water alkaline without products. I also speak and write french. I have experience with salt water fish, but would rather not get into that field. Please when writing to me, give me detailed information. The size of your tank, your water chemistry, etc. The more I know, the more I can help you. I cannot guess at what you have, so please give me information and I will do my outmost to help you with any question you ask me. Please do not ask me questions on Goldfish, mollies, platies, and guppies. Lynda

Question
I want to put my male Betta in a tank with Dalmatian Mollies, will he be ok with them and the water condition?  I have added 2t of salt per 5 gallons in tank with the Mollies.  Thank you for your advise and time.

Answer
Hi John,
I doubt that this would be a good idea.  Bettas can tolerate some salt, but not too much.  They also do best in a neutral PH 7.0.  Other complications may occur.  The mollies could nip the betta's beautiful fins, as they are an attraction for all fish, or the betta who is territorial could attack your mollies.  He would be much better off alone in a 5 gallon tank.
I hope this helps
Lynda
