I can help you with cichlids, african cichlids, betta fish. I have bred most of them, including the Discus, and Angel Fish, and Rams. I have also bred many african cichlids. I have bred bettas too...well I am a fish nut! I can help you with most diseases, and have experience in setting up a tank. I can tell you tricks on keeping your water alkaline without products. I also speak and write french. I have experience with salt water fish, but would rather not get into that field. Please when writing to me, give me detailed information. The size of your tank, your water chemistry, etc. The more I know, the more I can help you. I cannot guess at what you have, so please give me information and I will do my outmost to help you with any question you ask me. Please do not ask me questions on Goldfish, mollies, platies, and guppies. Lynda

Fish - Fading fins

Question
Hi Lynda - I was wondering whether you can help me.  My husband has a Betta in at work and part of it's top fin has lost all it's colour (it's a moon Betta I think).  I thought maybe it was finrot but it just seems to have affected a part of the top fin and nowhere else.  Do you know what it could be and do you think it will spread.  He seems fine apart from that and has twice weekly water changes, has a heater (24 degrees) and is eating well?

Many thanks>  Kris

Answer
Hi Kris,
To be sure he is okay, I would treat him with Bettafix.  Bettafix is a natural medication, and should help him.  I would have to see the fish to be sure this isn't a disease.  Watch him carefully to be certain that it doesn't spread to other parts of his body.  I do not know what size tank he is in, but adding diluted aquarium salt to his water would also help.  One teaspoon to 5 gallons of water.  Aquarium salt helps with stress, and parasites.
I hope it is nothing serious, if his condition gets worse, please write back to me.
Lynda
