Question Hi marc i was wondering, is it normal for my aquarium to have white marks on it(crusty minerals)?can i clean it with vinegar?can i use a normal paper towel ti whipe off the few algae off of the glass(i tried it and it works and beside the pet shop is out if algae scrape util next month and it need to be cleaned before that)?on my mess cover ispot 2 tiny spot of rust is this ok(the pet shop tell me that it was ok)?
Answer Hello,
Never clean your tank with anything else but water. White marks are due to alkaline water. To bring down the PH you could put driftwood in your tank. Never use chemicals to bring down your PH such as PH up or PH down. This would cause your PH to fluctuate which is bad for fish. Your PH level also depends on what kind of fish you are keeping. Some fish need alkaline water. You can use paper towels to clean your aquarium. Tiny spots of rust will not hurt your fish as long as the rust does not fall into the water.
