About Amber Worman
Expertise
I specialize in Gouramis, Black Moors, Fantail goldfish, and Bettas. I can answer questions about fish behavior, tank mates, diseases, and living conditions. I do not have much experience with breeding these types of fish, however.

Experience
Fish are my passion - I have raised these types of fish for as long as I can remember. I am a college student at Purdue University where I have a major in Biology and a position as a lab technician in a fish laboratory.

Question
I have three black moore goldfish, my question is that I also have a bottom feed, can the bottom feeder cause harm to the black moore goldfish or give them any disease? Should I keep the bottom feeder in the tank?

Answer
Hello Vicki-

Bottom feeders and algae eaters will not hurt your moores at all. As long as all of your fish are disease-free and you keep up on your water changes, everything should be fine.

Bottom feeders and algae eaters are good to keep in tanks, because they clean up the uneaten food and algae (though sometimes they produce a lot of waste.)

Hope this helps,
Amber Worman
