Question
Hello,
I had a few questions regarding blue and gold gourami and what other fish they are compatible with them. Well first of all let me tell you what is in my 30 gallon Gourami Tank:
5 Blue Gourami
3 Gold Gourami
1 Betta Splenden
2 Mystery Snails
(Tank is planted and also has artificial plants and a few rocks to give the tank a natural look. I also have some Malaysian Driftwood included in this setup. The tank has been up and running for about 6 months now.
-----------------------
Ok now on to my question. I would like to add some other fish into my tank. Maybe something really small that I could have a few of. I was wondering if it is possible to add more fish to my current gourami set up. (I have about 5 tanks but I would like to get rid of one of my 10 gallon tanks that has a couple platties and 3 long finned black skirt tetra. Could I possibly put those in my gourami tank?
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello Matt-

The platties would definitely be fine in the 30 gallon, but if you add the tetra be careful and watch them very closely for the first 24 hours. They won't bother the gourami at all, but they may shred the betta's delicate fins. Each tetra is different, but generally if they are in a school they will be less likely to attack your betta. I don't think the betta would attack them (they are oddly shaped and the betta won't mistake them for another betta.) You'd just have to go for it and watch to see what happens. Hopefully, everything will work out.

Good luck!
